Housekeeping for the Fall Season

We are already heading into our fourth training session for the Fall 2012 season and that means that we only have three practices and the Montreal tournament before we kick-off our matrix schedule against Quantico on September 8th at home. The schedule has been posted to the calendar, but is included below for reference as well.

Dues

Before any of us step out on the field, we need to get some administrative items crossed off: dues and CIPP registration. We have recently set up a PayPal button so that you can pay your Fall 2012 dues online. Dues are $110 for returning players and $55 for rookies (e.g. guys who have not played a full Spring or Fall with the club). We invite you to go ahead and use the link in the sidebar to pay up before continuing (don’t worry, we don’t mind waiting).

CIPP

Wasn’t that easy!? Next step is getting registered with USA Rugby (a.k.a. CIPP). This is also quite painless and can be done by going to this link. Remember to select “West Potomac Rugby Football Club” from the dropdown. CIPP registration lasts from September 1 – August 31, so everyone needs to renew before Montreal. As mentioned in practice, nobody who is not CIPP’ed will step on the field, No exceptions.

Fall 2012 Schedule

West Potomac Rugby with Ryan Bravo Hopkins and Tracy Denholm.

West Potomac Rugby played an excellent game against the Baltimore Chesapeake RFC this past Saturday, losing 22-19. Slippery conditions led to a lot of dropped passes, but the West Pot pack played their best game of the year - dominating the scrum all afternoon, including a penalty try earned after driving the scrum into the tryzone from the 5m line.

This week, West Pot's Man of the Match jacket was earned by lock Tracy Denholm, and West Pot Player of the week went to flank Ryan Hopkins. Well earned, gents!

This weekend West Potomac RFC travels on an international goodwill mission, exporting much-needed bravado and freedom to our neighbors to the north, as the club takes part in the Monty Head Tournament of Champions in Toronto, Canada.
